Sunsetting Singapore Transit

A peak at CloudKit is accelerating the sunset of Singapore Transit.
Sunsetting Singapore Transit

A long time ago in a condo far, far away, I once looked at using CloudKit to store a user’s push notification preferences for Singapore Transit. (This, frankly, is a more interesting lede than that of The Phantom Menace.[1])

I’m in the process of consolidating my developer accounts to a single Apple ID and the fact that I once looked at using CloudKit, and ticked a box in Xcode, means that I can’t transfer Singapore Transit to what will become my sole developer account. This is ridiculous.

What I’m going to do:

  • Singapore Transit will be updated in early June to v2.5, with a database update and bug fixes
  • Singapore Transit will be removed from sale on June 11th
  • Later this year, I’ll be releasing independent—and better—apps for each of the areas that Singapore Transit covered

I am annoyed that enabling CloudKit for development purposes removed the ability to transfer the app. While the app was going to be retired, it’s not happening on the schedule that I would want.
